Which is better: Disneyland or Disney World?

This seems to be the age-old question since Walt Disney World opened in the 70s. The answer? It really depends on the person! I have finally come to my personal opinion on this matter, though, so figured I would break down the “whys” of my decision for you!  To keep this comparison fair, I look at a comparison of Magic Kingdom park within Walt Disney World in Orlando, and Disneyland park within the Disneyland resort in Anaheim. Comparing them as a whole is just too difficult since they are surprisingly very different, but anywhoozers, a separate post can be found on the overview of each here.

All right… Drum roll…

My favorite park when comparing Disneyland and Disney’s Magic Kingdom is…

Magic Kingdom! 😊

Whew. Glad I got that off my chest. Honestly guys, I feel like a betraying disgrace since I grew up going to Disneyland and have such dear memories at that park! But with that being said… I cried when I saw the Cinderella Castle for the first time. Cinderella was my FAVORITE when I was a little girl. My mom always talks about the many home videos of me sitting on her bed watching Cinderella while singing all the songs in the classic animated movie, bouncing curls and bobbing head, when I was a wee toddler. The castle alone is simply too impressive not to love a tiny bit more than Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Still—it doesn’t make it any easier to admit!

Of course, this is not to say that I don’t LOVE Disneyland, because I really, really do! I keep creating more and more memories there since I currently reside in California, and have even had the opportunity to bring my infant son to Pixar Fest recently to create fond and magical firsts only Disney knows how to do. A whole new generation of Disney love to share the beloved park with! Since I have been so many times (fun fact: my husband and I used to be annual passholders), even with each new memory that is made, a wave of nostalgia always hangs around me at Disneyland that is pleasant and hard to put in words. We really are a Disneyland loving family! At the end of the day, there are just slightly more things at Magic Kingdom that I enjoy more than at Disneyland.

Wins at Disneyland:

  • This Pirates of the Caribbean ride has a certain smell that both my husband and I love. As weird as that sounds haha!
  • I like Space Mountain better here
  • Sentimental value (read our love story here)
  • Indiana Jones is a fun thrill ride that Florida doesn’t have
  • Big Thunder Mountain is easier to get to, and it’s one of my favorites
  • Toon Town
  • It’s a Small World is a gorgeous building

The night we said “I love you” at Disneyland

Wins at Magic Kingdom:

  • Cinderella Castle (and Cinderella’s Royal Table)
  • Splash Mountain is better here I think
  • The more immersive queues!
  • New Fantasyland—and with that Be Our Guest/Beast’s Castle. 10/10 AMAZING
  • Rainy Day Parade
  • Rapunzel’s tower AKA the most beautiful restroom area ever
  • The PEOPLE MOVER
  • Carousel of Progress

Outside of Disney’s Magic Kingdom

As you can see—it was a close call. Alas, I must say Magic Kingdom takes it for me.

When I asked my husband “Magic Kingdom versus Disneyland?” Zach said…

Disneyland is better sentimentally, but speaking from a general tourist, Magic Kingdom. He says, Magic Kingdom is definitely a better theme park if you’re looking from a tourist perspective, but Disneyland is ‘better for my life’ (whatever that means, honey) 😉

So there you have it, folks! Which is better in YOUR opinion? Let me know!

Until our next adventure! It’s a great big, beautiful tomorrow!

Breanna
